List five songs that you currently love. It doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying
right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the songs in your blog. Then tag five other Livejournal friends to see what they're listening to.

1. I'll Cover You - from the movie version of Rent
2. The Moment of Truth - Survivor
3. Closer - Nine Inch Nails
4. Dancing Through Life - from Wicked
5. Tougher Than The Rest - Travis Tritt

Sick Again

I'm sick again -- hopefully not as bad as the last time.
But I'm very tired, and my nose is stuffed and running and my throat is sore again.

Last night I was quiet and withdrawn while [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ and my daughter made dinner together then played Magic. It was so nice to listen to them having fun togehter, knowing they were enjoying each other's company and that I could rest and be quiet by myself without feeling any guilt. (I wouldn't have felt any about [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_, but I would have felt some about my daughter.)

The last time I was sick, I missed an important business trip.
Today, one of the people I would have had a working session with is at our office, and I have several hours scheduled with him. I just hope I'm well enough to concentrate on what needs to be done.

Ack, I hate this!
I want to go back to bed and sleep all day.

I have issues with the portrayals of the Queen of Pentacles in most tarot decks.
Well, issues may not be the right word. It's not that I think the artists are wrong in their depictions, but that I don't see any part of myself in those images.

My favorite Pentacles card is the 9 (from the Robin Wood Tarot) --

This is me -- or someone I would like to be.

I was talking tarot with [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ the other night, going through the deck and sharing our thoughts about the cards, and this one came up. I said that to me the hawk symbolized the woman's ability to go beyond the gates any time she chose.

[livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ had a different interpretation: that her harnessing of her "flighty" nature is what allowed her to enjoy the affluence and security of her garden. She hadn't destroyed it, but she did take control of it.

I like his interpretation better than mine. At least right now. It speaks directly to where I am in my life and what my struggle has always been in regard to the earthly/mundane aspects of life, which must be tended with care if I want to have the kind of peace and security this card symbolizes for me.

The other thing I noted for the first time is that she is picking a single grape: not the bunch. She takes only what she needs, only just enough. She does not overindulge.

Also an important lesson for me in this realm as I work on my stewardship of resources and my relationship with food.
