So the Ex came down this morning to snuggle our daughter, and as he gazed at her, overcome by this lovely little person, he said to her, "I am absolutely in awe of the fact that I had a hand in creating you."

How am I supposed to ignore a straight line like that?

I didn't turn from the counter where I was making breakfast.

"It wasn't your hand that you had in, dear."

They both splorfled behind me.

Gettysburg

I'm sitting at my desk and can hear the music and sounds of the TNT movie Gettysburg coming down from upstairs.

This is a movie I had absolutely no interest in seeing when it first came out, but when my Ex, before-he-became-my-husband, was watching it one day, I stopped to listen to a solilouqy and was captivated.

If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it, even if you don't usually watch 'war movies.'
The combination of dialogue, soliloquy, and action are almost Shakespearean, and much of the dialogue is taken directly from letters and journals of the participants. Those on both sides of the conflict are portrayed as being men of honor and conviction -- and the performances are superb.

It's long, but worth devoting the time.
