qos: (Not Well Behaved)
Friends:

I've discovered that I am not getting notification emails when people respond to my comments on their entries. (I discovered this because my inbox was telling me that no one liked/loved/adored me because no one had responded to my "Me please" in the meme. I had to click back to find some responses -- and since I only remembered that [livejournal.com profile] bookchick and [livejournal.com profile] wlotus were doing it, I haven't seen anyone else's responses -- so please be a dear and remind me if you're not one of them.)

If I've left you a comment, and you've responded but haven't heard back from me, please let me know, and I'll scroll back and continue the conversation.

As for now. . . I have a pirate party to finish preparing for.

Arrrr!

The cake is. . . well, let's say I'm glad that pirates sometimes experience shipwrecks.

My daughter, bless her fuzzy little heart, thinks its fine. "I like it!" she says of the two layers that don't match well, the edges crumbling, and the need for me to run out now and buy an additional can of frosting to mortar the open spaces together.

Where are the good fairies when I need them??
qos: (Never Surrender by Underdark Icons)
My daughter pushed the pirate figures in deep to keep them from toppling over.

A few minutes later, there was a crevasse in the cake.

*sigh*

The party was a success. . . The kids mostly entertained themselves, although I did lead them through Pin-the-Eyepatch-on-the-Pirate and the junior version of the Worst Case Scenario board game. They gobbled down the cake, and were very loud.

I was very glad when they were gone, even though it went well.

The highlight of the day, however, was an extended conversation with a good friend with whom I've been having some off and on issues the last few years. We had a great, long talk, which made me feel very good.
