Last night, I read of [livejournal.com profile] ladyvivien's arrival in Japan. This morning, [livejournal.com profile] toesontheground writes that he is "Off to Tauranga" for holiday. [livejournal.com profile] queenofhalves is "off to Dallas."

Then I scroll upward to find the beautiful daily photo dispatch from Europe (usually Paris), courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] mtl.

All of the sudden, I'm having an intense urge to Go Someplace. I'm not quite sure where I want to go at the moment, but I'm reminded that I haven't been more than 50 miles out of town for quite some time.

And The Child is overdue for the adventure I've been promising her. It's time for me to call the guest ranch I found a year ago and make reservations for later this summer.

I'm preregistered to start a six-week series of American Tribal style bellydancing classes, starting July 19th.

Bellydancing is completely opposite of what most people would imagine me doing, but it's something I've always wanted to try. I stumbled on the class link while googling for something else, and thought that now would be a great time to finally take the plunge: while I'm trying to find more opportunities to move my body, to be more comfortable in my body, and awaken my passions without the necessity of a romantic partner.

I happen to think [livejournal.com profile] tamnonlinear is extremely witty herself, so if this is true, I'll take it as quite a compliment.

[livejournal.com profile] ladyvivien, if I ever discover that there's a closet I need to come out of, you'll be the first to know!

[livejournal.com profile] aerden, only this morning I was writing that I wanted to travel. Where shall we run off to?

The Good News -- I got spend all afternoon at a team building event for about 30 people in my division. Miss Vicki asked me to come early to help her set up, so I did, we carpooled, and had a lovely time.

The event was a scavenger hunt that involved running around downtown for two hours. It was a beautiful day. I got to see parts of the city I usually don't visit. I was able to keep pace easily with the others, including some stints of running.

The Bad News -- Two members of our six person team simply did not want to be there, and their attitude was a significant downer. One person was a guest from another division. He was pleasant, but not enthusiastic. One person was going to leave on vacation that afternoon, was pleasant, but wanted to be gone. The fifth person was enthusiastic and eager, but by the end of the long event was tired and frustrated almost to the point of exploding by the jibes and attitude of the first two. I tried to be upbeat, but felt a bit silly. It was a long afternoon, made longer by one person being half an hour late, very long instructions, and required skits dramatizing our exploits. Our team leader left an hour before the skits. The formerly cheerful chap was at the end of his wits by the time we finished writing our very lame skit. We came in dead last, and my team didn't care -- we were just glad to be put out of our misery.

The other good news was that I carpooled back to the office with Jeannie, and we had a pleasant time. The traffic going back to my side of the water was insane at 6pm, so I stuck around the office and did some work until about 7:15, helping Jeannie get a time-sensitive document updated, which I'm sure earned me some brownie points.

I'm home now, enjoying a caffeine free Diet Coke with vodka. When I'm done with my LJ updates, I'll put on some slow, suggestive music and do the warmups and stretches from the S-Factor Workout that I've been enjoying. It does wonderful things for tension that I carry in my lower back and pelvic area. (I've got her book, which is fun.)

After that, I'll read another chapter of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with my daughter, put her to bed, and then do centering prayer -- the combination of which should remove the last of the bad taste in my mouth from this afternoon.
