Quick Note
Apr. 19th, 2004 06:13 amThe child and I did indeed go see "Ella Enchanted" yesterday evening -- a sweet, fun movie that I think most young girls would enjoy. I had a bit of a twinge seeing Cary Elwes, one of my own youthful romantic heroes (I love Lady Jane and The Princess Bride) playing the nasty heavy, but he was obviously having a good time. His evil sidekick was a CGI snake who was quite effective.
Then we had dinner together at the Outback, then home for another two chapters of Taran Wanderer.
It was a good time, and she told me how special it was to be able to spend time together, just the two of us, which made me feel both good and bad: good that we were doing something special, bad because there's not more of it.
There was a preview for a remake of "Shall We Dance?" starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and Stanely Tucci, which has me all excited. I didn't like Gere during his "American Gigolo" and "Officer and a Gentleman" years, but love the way he's matured and aged. And of course Susan Sarandon is generally awesome. Did anyone ever watch the short-lived tv series "Murder One"? That's where I first saw Stanley Tucci and fell for him. "Murder One" was one of about five tv shows in my life that I've followed religiously, if only for the one season.
I'm tired this morning and my arms are sore from reaching above my head so much over the weekend. The air ducts will require another coat of paint to look really good, and I am non-rationally irritated that I will have to paint them *again*. Some immature part of me believes whole-heartedly that once *should* be enough. I'm telling her to grow up and realize that doing things well usually takes extra effort.
