Is Me --

responding to the serene message from RealPlayer that my iPod database is corrupt and the only way to fix it is to erase all media files on the device.

That shouldn't be a big deal, though I have no idea how to erase my iPod and reload it from iTunes. I'd think just syncing my iPod with iTunes keeps my database okay. Why wouldn't that be a simple "Point and Click" operation in RealPlayer?

The problem is that I don't store all my music on my hard drive, only 100 or so of my favorites. . . and I carry 1700 or so on my iPod. It means a lot of re-ripping.

This time, however, I'm going to create very dense mp3 CD's so when this happens again (as it does every so often) I won't have to do as much shuffling.

So you put everything on your iPod one time, then don't sync it again? (I'm constantly syncing my iPod, because I'm adding, removing, or reclassifying music files, so my iTunes library always matches my iPod database.)

I use the software to create new playlists on the 'pod itself, or delete, but I don't keep 1,000+ music files on my hard drive.

Try the iTunes interface. Then try it on a Mac, perhaps. Don't know if it will play well with the digital rights management though.

You know you could totally kill somebody right now, and there's not a jury in the country would convict you.

It usually takes a couple of weeks.
But this time I'm going to be smart, and create very dense data CD's of the music before I delete it from my hard drive, so I don't have to do a lot of shuffling of discs in the future.

Thank you!

I was 12 when Star Wars came out, and Princess Leia had a huge impact on me! Now that I'm grown up (mostly), Delenn from Babylon-5 is more of a role-model, but Princess Leia is still very close to my heart.
