Again, I appreciate everyone's responses to my inquiry post about Lammas/Lughnasadh. One of the reasons I asked is that I've seldom observed any of the Wheel of the Year celebrations -- or other celebrations, truth be told. It's actually quite rare for me to be thinking of it this far in advance.

Lammas, however, resonates strongly with my connections to the Sacrificial King, and has more personal meaning to me than many of the other holidays.

I'm not sure yet how I'm going to celebrate, but I'm pondering it.

For those of you who are relatively recent acqaintances, I've never been much of a ritualist, never felt much of an urge to take action on the physical level to represent, commemorate, or otherwise key in to the things that I connect with on the inner. I'm very abstract, and simply didn't see much point in the theatrics of such observances. It's still a stretch for me, but I'm learning to find the value -- and the fun -- in it.

The OAG's Grail Mass connects the element of the bread with the dying and rising consort-king, so I might use that -- or a variation on it -- as my central rite. As I type that, I feel an nudge to discuss it with Ereshkigal, and see what She wants me to do.

Certainly LM will be very much involved, as he partakes very strongly of the sacrificial king archetype.

I have never been one who is drawn to scripted ritual, either.

I celebrate the solstices, equinoxes and a few other seasonal passages, as well as passages through the stages of life, death and (re)birth.

And I usually find that the nature season reasonably correlates with a season of my life.

I've really enjoyed reading these last two entries in your journal. It's quite interesting to see the differences and similarities in the ways people observe things.

Looks like I'll be celebrating Lammas this year with double-change - a week's vacation at music camp in the deep Mendocino forest, and a house-move. Oy!
