Due to some upheaval in my life recently, I hadn't been very consistent in my morning practice, but the past two days I've been back in the swing of things.

This morning, to end the yoga sequence, I went from Mountain pose (standing straight, arms at sides) to a "sun breath" of arms raised in a Y over my head. I started asking for Light to come down -- and then stopped myself. I don't have to "ask." Light is there; calling it in is a birthright we all have.

Then I did The Rising Light Below with the same mindset. Instead of concentrating on pulling the energy up and shaping it into the different elemental modes, I was mindful of the free-flowingness of the light, and the way in which all four elements were already part of me. It made a big difference in my experience of the exercise.

It's there for all of us: light, darkness, earth, air, fire, water, spirit. . . all of it. It's just a matter of accepting it, being open to it, believing in it.

(Or maybe it's not that simple? But that's how it feels this morning.)
