I don't like "American Idol" or its clones.

I don't particularly like this song.

I've seen this video around and didn't click because I simply wasn't interested.

But when [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ sent it to me via chat this morning, I figured I needed to check it out.

To explain why it's so amazing would be to spoil it.

Just trust me.
Plug in your speakers or put on your headphones and watch.

Thank you. My sentiments about the "American Idol" shows are very similar to yours, but I'm so glad I followed that link this morning. Exactly the sort of thing I needed to see. It brought tears to my eyes.

I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of saying "We told you so," with as great of joy as this and without the slightest tinge of schadenfreude!

So glad you got to discover her performance, too.

I haven't posted about this because it cuts so close to the bone for me --- but the experience of seeing a fat, frumpy middle-aged woman get treated like crap and then turn around and bitch-slap the idiots who have been mistreating her into the middle of next week by proving her worth in terms that even they can understand was indescribable. Talk about triumphing over adversity...and busting stereotypes. Susan Boyle is amazing.

How patronising were they? - and the audience sniggering at her too, before she started singing.

I've just found a recording on you tube of "Cry Me A River" that she made in 1999 for a charity record. Can't help thinking that if she looked better, she might have been "discovered" then. Or earlier.

But, we live in a shallow society. Absolutely agree that she has a phenomenal voice. Makes all those teenage wannabe Britneys look pretty sick.
