qos: (Homemade Queen)
Cooking is much more fun when done with someone I love who knows what he's doing than it is when I'm alone.

Last night, [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ and I cooked dinner together. I made almond and parmesan oven fried chicken; he made glazed carrots and potatos au gratin (the Daughter's new favorite food). It took an hour, but the time passed happily, and we all enjoyed sitting down together to share the meal.

The Daughter enjoyed playing a game on his computer while we cooked, then after dinner [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ finished his last homework assignment of the term while she helped me with the dishes.

I'm spending more time on my hearth and less on the computer these days. And it feels good.

There's a lot of changes happening right now, leading with the challenges presented by my project management assignments at work, which are giving me the opportunity to develop as a leader. I'm getting good coaching from people with very different styles, and have the challenge of sifting through their good -- but sometimes conflicting -- advice, to find what's right for me.

At the same time, the increasing expectations on my admin side are driving me crazy and making me more focused on wanting to develop my practice. Over the weekend I visited two of the local metaphysical bookstores that have practitioner space for rent, and feel very good now about going to one of them for space when I have a client meeting. (I have to call the manager of the other one, since she wasn't there on Saturday.)

My finances are in pretty good shape too. I'm doing far less impulse spending than in the past. And -- largely because of [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_ -- I'm eating at home and taking lunches to work more often, meaning that I'm spending less on drive-through and generally eating better. Exercise still needs to be made a regular part of my life (again!), but I'm allowing myself to be content with the improvement in my eating habits for right now.
