Domestic Tranquility
Oct. 24th, 2006 06:41 amIn brief, because I slept too late this morning. . . .
Went to the grocery store after work last night to re-stock after being ill. Picked up
_storyteller_ on the way home, who I hadn't seen in several days.
At the house, the Daughter put the groceries away,
_storyteller_ worked on putting together a deck of Magic cards for her, and I cleaned the toilet.
Then I got to enjoy the sound of ST teaching the Daughter how to play Magic while I cooked dinner. It was Ex-Husband Pasta: a basil/garlic/almond concoction he threw together one night which became a favorite. I don't do it often, because for it to be really good it requires fresh ingrediants, which I usually don't bother to buy and chop up, but I wanted to do something special for
_storyteller_ after he took such good care of me while I was sick.
Dinner was very good, and included smoked salmon and watermelon. I took a break after dinner to do LJ and email while ST and the Daughter started actually playing the game, then I came out and did the dishes while watching/listening. (I should add that on every other night he's been over, ST has taken the lead on doing the dishes. But it was wonderful to listen to them have fun together.)
Then we hung out together on the couch cuddling and talking, and the Daughter read to us from her National Geographic Kids magazine (full of fun and interesting facts and photos) until it was time to get ready for bed. She got into her footy jammies, came out for a few more cuddles, then
_storyteller_ carried her to bed (she's too big for me to lift into the top bunk anymore!) and left, while I did the last cuddles and goodnight kisses.
Then he and I got to have some private time, which was very, very nice.
All in all, a perfectly lovely evening.
