The Upstairs is remodeling and putting down new floor in the kitchen, and doing unexpected work on their bathroom.

They have water problems too.

The people who owned the house before us (who I hope break out in nasty hives every time we discover yet another of their duplicitious or stupid acts) put down the wrong kind of floor on top of old floor in the upstairs bathroom, with no water protection. The floorboards are rotting. It's no wonder I occasionally get a shower coming from the ceiling of my bathroom!

So there's only going to be one working toilet in the house as of tomorrow, lots of noise from things being torn up, and lots of dust. So the Daughter and I are decamping to my parents' house for a couple of days.

In additional water-response news, a professional plumber coming in to re-do our sewer line tomorrow, hopefully preventing the too-frequent blockage problems we've been having and the nearly non-existent water pressure upstairs.

The floor work is being done by my Ex's brother-in-law. If I like the work I see, I may talk with him about doing my own floors. Now that the flooding problems seem to have been dealt with in most of my home, I can start putting down nice floor again. But I have sworn off Do It Yourself, and I'm sure the BIL will charge a lot less than an outsider. I'm a bit leery of hiring "in the family," but if he's good, it could be a win-win situation.
