The Daughter and I just walked up to the local cinema and saw "The Legend of Zorro."
Fun movie!
It had a couple of my least favorite plot devices -- a kid, and one or two others I won't mention because of spoilers -- but it succeeded for me anyway. The director, Martin Campbell, did a good job of increasing tension as the movie progressed. I found myself catching my breath and white-knuckling more than once.
And hooray for Elena having the opportunity to engage in some derring-do and buckling-of-swash.
Then there's Antonio. . . who remains handsome, charming, self-deprecating, and frequently a better actor than I expect. If the "Fictional Lovers" meme had been longer, he'd have been on it for El Mariachi and Zorro. (He's actually already partially there because Hob used his face for his Star Wars character that I'm in love with.)
This is definitely a movie worth seeing in the theater, and in fact I'll probably go see it at least one more time. I'd even pay full price.
And the Narnia trailer is -- of course -- even more spectacular on the big screen than it is online. My daughter, who had shrugged when I pointed out the "Coming Soon" poster, turned to me after the preview and said, "We are so seeing that!"
21 days until we board the train for Disneyland!
But in the meantime, we're heading for the grocery store to select our pumpkins.
And I must change the water in my Blessed Bowl. . . and look for a floating candle.
Can water and fire co-exist?
