Great Women, Great Evening
Oct. 23rd, 2005 12:54 pmLast night I had the privelege of entertaining
queenofhalves,
kateri_thinks, and
jaynefury in my home, and it was a marvelous evening. The three of them had never met before, and hadn't even interacted on LJ, but my instincts had been correct that they had enough in common to have a good time together.
There was good food, lots of great conversation, a couple of songs from Wicked (for the benefit of
jaynefury who had not yet been exposed to the fabulousness of the show), and a spontaneous blessing ritual around a glass bowl that I was going to give away but was firmly pushed back at me as being a necessary focus for my issues with water on the symbolic level.
Spiritual autobiographies were shared before dinner, and after the food was put on the table we all just sat there silently, each realizing that it was necessary to say grace in that moment.
queenofhalves did the honors for us.
During dinner, my daughter modeled her "Corpse Bride" Halloween costume for us -- with the addition of fancy black wings with dark blue glitter on them. I'll have to get a photo. . .
The conversation was lively and wide-ranging. And I realized how long it's been since I've had friends over for any kind of social event. It felt really good.
Photos were taken by my Ex, but they are in
queenofhalves's camera, so I can't post them yet.
