Happy Easter to all those who celebrate today!

I have many comments to reply to, many recommendations to make to those of you who posted the most recent meme, and many posts to read, but it's going to be a while before I get caught up.

Yesterday I spent time with my daughter, bought a pair of new (very cheap) lamps to replace the one that tipped over and died in my living room last week. (Basement apartments with small windows require many lamps.) Did the dishes.

Then my parents came over to assist with some major cleaning. I don't have a vaccuum that works, so they brought theirs. Dad put together the new lamps and swept the floor. Mom helped the daughter clean out her closet (she likes to do that), and I finally managed to muck out the closet where the old water heater lived and scrub the floor from the mess that was left after it was pulled out across the floor in my office.

Throughout this, I was slipping CD's into my computer, selecting tracks and ripping them to my hard drive. I managed to get several hundred through the course of the day, and transferred them back onto the iPod. (This morning I burned more than one hundred onto an .mp3 disc, so that next time I won't have to shuffle all of them, just stick one disk in and hit Record.)

Then I took a shower and hit the road for Tacoma, where I had the privelege of attending [livejournal.com profile] thomryng's baptism at Easter Mass. It was wonderful to see him and [livejournal.com profile] jaynefury again, although the activities of the evening didn't allow as much personal catch-up conversation time.

This was only the third time I have attended a Catholic Mass, and the previous times were when I was a teen. It was the Easter Vigil, and they received 29 people into the church through baptism and confirmation, so the Mass ran more than two hours. It wasn't difficult to sit through, but I experienced some unexpectedly complicated emotions, which I hope to explore more later.

I didn't get home until after eleven, and found my nine year-old daughter still up watching TV. (Insert rant about the Ex not paying any attention at all to bedtimes.)

Today I'm sticking my nose in at LJ but not doing more than this post, continuing to shuffle CD's through the computer and iPod, and then will be off to Quaker meeting, bringing my daughter with me for the first time. Then it will be off to pick up my aunt, and then over to my parents' house for dinner. Hopefully I'll get some study time in this evening, since yesterday was a complete loss from that perspective. I also have to get on the WebCT site and post an introduction for the class.
