Freewill Astrology

I haven't read Brezny for a while, but a friends post sent me over there to check his Sagittarius scope for the week, and it's about as on-target as its possible to be:

"Dear Rob: All my life I've been passionate about the big picture -- learning how the universe works, meditating on why things are the way they are, and probing the invisible forces working behind the scenes. Too often, though, I'm so enamored of these expansive concepts that I neglect to pay enough humble attention to myself. It's embarrassing. Loving the infinite, I scrimp on taking care of the finite. Any advice? - Larger Than Life Sagittarian." Dear Larger: You're in luck! Members of the Sagittarian tribe have entered a phase when they can make up for their previous neglect of life-nourishing details. In the coming weeks, I bet you'll find it as fun and interesting to attend to your own little needs as you normally do to understanding the mysteries of the cosmos.

Considering that I just made a locked post for my teacher about nurturing my own inner flame for a while and not worrying about the gods, relationships in general, or etc. . . this seems like a cosmic Amen.

Rob Sez for 2010

It would be hard to get a better new year's resolution than this. It has spiritual practice, physical well-being, and running wilder and freer.

I hope you will get more sleep in 2010. And eat better food, too. And embark on some regimen like meditation that will reduce your stress levels. In general, Sagittarius, I hope you will learn a lot more about what makes your body function at optimum levels, and I hope you will diligently apply what you learn. That doesn't mean I think you should be an obsequiously well-behaved pillar of the community. On the contrary, what I'm envisioning is that by taking better care of yourself you will make yourself strong enough to run wilder and freer.

No More Hot Shards of Broken Glass, sez Rob

My current Freewill Astrology horoscope.

Sagittarius: I hope that by now you have finished scrabbling along on your hands and knees over burning hot shards of broken glass. The next and hopefully final phase of your redemptive quest should be less torturous. In this upcoming chapter, the operative metaphor might be assembling a jigsaw puzzle with 200 pieces, all of which are red. Amazingly enough, you actually have it in you to accomplish this improbable feat -- as long as you don't spread out the puzzle pieces all over the burning hot shards of broken glass. Find a nice, clean, quiet place to do your work.

Rob on My Job Prospects

Sagittarius Horoscope for week of September 3, 2009

Before she became a rock goddess, Gwen Stefani cleaned the floors at an ice cream parlor. Prior to ascending to stardom, Ellen DeGeneres was an oyster shucker, Keanu Reeves worked a janitor, and Brad Pitt performed as a giant chicken mascot. As for me, my gig as an internationally syndicated astrologer was not my first. Among many other things, I washed enough pots and pans in cheap restaurants to fulfill my dishwashing karma for my next five incarnations. I hope these examples serve to inspire you, Sagittarius. Even during the down economy, the next six months will provide you with ripe astrological conditions for upgrading your job. And the coming weeks will be prime time to brainstorm about how to go about it.

I Really Would Like This To Be True. . . .

Current Freewill Astrology for Sagittarius:

If at some future time you sell your life story to a filmmaker who makes it into a feature film, it may have a lot to do with adventures that kick into high gear in the coming weeks. The fun will start (I hope) when you decide not to merely lie back and be victimized by your signature pain any longer. This brave act will recalibrate the cosmic scales and shift the currents of destiny that flow through you. Soon you will be making progress in untangling a mystery that has eluded your insight for a long time. You will be able to uncover the guarded secrets of a source that has for some time been tweaking your personal power without your full awareness.

This is so pertinent to the work I've been struggling with for goodness-knows-how-long, it's not even funny.

Freewill Astrology for This Week

I haven't looked at this site in a long time, but this coming week's horoscope seems particularly apt:

Sagittarius: During his time in hiding, the Biblical prophet Elijah was kept alive by ravens who brought him food. John the Baptist survived on nothing but honey and locusts when he was roaming the wilderness. And I'm sure that some unexpected source of comfort and sustenance will likewise turn up during your wanderings, Sagittarius. It may not be what you're used to. You might even have to cultivate a taste for nourishment that seems foreign. But stick with it. You could learn to love it, and in the process become less dependent on stuff you thought you couldn't do without.

Brezny-scope

Sagittarius: At a Buddhist sanctuary in Khun Han, Thailand, monks have used a million beer bottles and soft drink bottles to build their temple. Bottle caps have come in handy, too, serving as the raw material for numerous mosaics portraying the Buddha. Your assignment, Sagittarius, is to draw inspiration from these geniuses. How could you take some profane elements of your life and turn them into a hotbed of sacred inspiration?

I find the accompanying image also particularly apt, given my circumstances.

Great Horoscope!

This week's 'scope, courtesy of Astrobarry.com:

Show 'em all what an earnest, zestful love of life looks like, Sagittarius. I have not forgotten that, just a couple weeks back, I reported you were moving through a 'turning of emotional seasons'. And whether that turn made you mildly or more markedly moody, for a relatively shorter or longer time, let's take one giant step back and look at the scene again. Between 1995 and 2008, you contended with Pluto weighing down your sign, bringing its demons and embroilments and brutal realizations… all so that, on the other end, you'd be a more powerful, purposeful and integrated individual. (It worked, didn't it?) From where you stand now, then, you have survived much worse than anything you're presently facing (or, if it really is that bad right now, you are in far greater company than at any time in recent history). Not only did you survive, you did so with a spring still in your step and plenty of wisecracks still stored in your cheeks. Please, oh please, celebrate life. When you are actually enjoying the thing you're doing, your enthusiasm is unbelievably contagious—and bears the power to torch your own bad moods to dust. Put your own enjoyment near the top of your priority list, for the week ahead and the several following, along with whatever bummer jobs might be getting you down. Then, multi-task, alternating yuck-yuck with fun-fun. As long as you don't spend too much cash, you're all good.

Wolfling was born in the last days of 1995. During the subsequent years I finished my MA, got divorced, went through the launch and shut-down of the rocket company (the only job I've ever truly loved), had my gallbladder removed, spent a year in a 24/7 D/s relationship as a sub, spent the next five years deliberately celibate, spent years in less-than-great jobs, struggled with Miss V, went through the painful breakdown of my gaming group, moved into the basement of the duplex, started and left seminary, had the Ex's SO and her kids move in upstairs, went through the drama of his goddaughter and her psycho boyfriend, fell in love unexpectedly with Lee and Lohain, had them as partners for a year and then went through the pain of Lohain's death and the transformation of my relationship with Lee, got a new job here at MyCo, moved out of the basement, started my priestess training, had a breast cancer scare, moved again. . .

A couple of nights ago I made a post in which I asked "When did I get this strong?" Probably since 1995. . .

Writer's Block: Prophecy or Fallacy?

I'm Trying To Figure Out If There Could Be A Better Postscript to the Last Several Years. . .

This morning's Message from the Universe:

Sometimes, when you're feeling your lowest, Feral_Journey, the real you is summoned.

And you understand, maybe for the first time ever, how grand you are, because you discover that vulnerable doesn't mean powerless, scared doesn't mean lacking in beauty, and uncertainty doesn't mean that you're lost.

These realizations alone will set you on a journey that will take you far beyond what you used to think of as extraordinary.

There is always a bright side.

"Us" and "Them"

Astrobarry.com offers some insights into the situation we in the U.S. face this week -- and in the months to come.

"Along our way, each of us will meet countless other individuals facing the same fundamental life questions (don't we all live within the same cosmos?)… though many will approach them from positions in sharp contrast to ours. What inspires our hope may trigger their terror. What represents our liberation may constitute the radical destruction of their near-and-dear values. And what we may do to try and build these fresh freedoms into our reigning social structures, they might seek to undermine or sabotage in righteous refusal to bow down.

Can't you see? We are both us and them in different guises, based on the situation. No matter what side of history we find ourselves on, the other players deserve our basic human respect—regardless of whether we feel they've given us the same. Compassion's got to start somewhere."

In Which Rob Once Again Hits The Nail On The Head. . .

Sagittarius horoscope from Freewill Astrology:

Medical insurance is out of reach for 46 million of my fellow Americans. Our country is at war in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as with a ghostly omnipresent foe known as terrorism. Our national debt is stupendous, our stock market has plunged, and many companies once thought to be towers of strength have failed. Meanwhile, right next door, Canada has universal healthcare and a budget surplus. Its banks are solvent and it is embroiled in zero wars. Am I jealous? Of course. Am I planning to emigrate? No. I'm going to stay here and keep agitating for goodness and justice and beauty. After evaluating your astrological omens, Sagittarius, I suggest that you do the equivalent in your own life: Stand your ground as you work to fix the flawed situation you've been given; don't flee to where the grass seems greener. Halloween costume suggestions: an elder statesman, wise crone, or charismatic teacher.

"Elder statesman, wise crone, or charismatic teacher"? I'll take all three, please!

Rob B. Hits the Nail on the Head. . .

Sagittarius

The world is poised at the threshold of a great choice: Should we stick with what has worked for us, even though it's not working any more? Or should we experiment with possibilities that may work for us in the future, even though they don't have a track record? You, Sagittarius, can and should be a leader in this epic adventure. The best way to do that is to summon your dormant courage as you apply the big questions I just posed to the specific circumstances of your personal life.

http://www.freewillastrology.com/horoscopes/

As a matter of fact, I have plans for this weekend regarding certain "specific circumstances of my personal life."

Two Cupfulls of Encouragement

In my Higher Power position -- a clue-by-four from the ever-helpful Tarot.com

5 of Cups

Although something has been lost, you are enjoined to persevere in your dreams.

When the Five of Cups comes up in this position, it represents the spiritual challenge of accepting the partial loss of what you held most dear. It's important that you not lose enthusiasm for the rest of your aspirations, because they are still within your grasp. You must be a warrior of the heart and spring back from this kind of disappointment.

Your Higher Self is giving you a vote of confidence. You have the resilience and clarity of mind to rise above loss and grief. To fully recover from this setback, seize the two unspilled cups and move forward with the determination you had when you still had all five. If your mission is sacred, your guidance real, and your heart strong, it's worth carrying on -- even if the totality of your envisioned outcome isn't forthcoming. Don't lose heart. Stay on the path. It's not about the quantity of blessing that's available, it's about the quality.

My "Journey" Oracle

A friend who also saw the "Journey" advertisement sent me the URL of the online video. I hadn't watched it to the end when I was in the registration line, so I didn't know until she sent it that it's a Louis Viuitton commercial. But the significance is undiminished for me.

Thought I'd share it. . .

Widsecreen Affirmation from the Universe

I am not being metaphorical here, my friends.

Longtime readers of this journal may remember that the metaphor of the Journey has been important to me since junior high. "The Journeys" are the name of my personal mythic saga that I started writing at age twelve, a story which began with an airline trip to Southern California and went on to describe how my alter ego became the heroine I dreamed of becoming. Each Journey was a new training exercise, but also very real life. Also, I went to college in California, and the flights there from the Northwest were always powerful for me. The flight to P-con had been more emotional than I had anticipated because the view of the landscape below brought up those old memories as well as the mythic associations. I was keenly aware that this trip, this adventure, was a Journey in my oldest, most sacred sense.

As soon as I walked into the lobby of the Doubletree, I saw [livejournal.com profile] oakmouse sitting exactly where she said she'd be: at one of the tables making a semi-circle across the lobby. Beyond those tables was a slightly lower level with a wet bar and a sushi bar. To the right of the lounge (on the main level) was the registration desk.

[livejournal.com profile] oakmouse greeted me with a hug, and her friend -- soon to be my friend -- M immediately went to get me a soft drink. I knew I couldn't handle alcohol at that moment. My head was already spinning a bit as I took in the amazing "festive garb" of the other participants and the less-obvious but still potent energy of the con, and I was grateful to just sit there and try to ground. But just a few minutes later, [livejournal.com profile] oakmouse urged me to get in the registration line before it got long again.

I really didn't want to get up, but felt she was right: best to get it over with when the line was short. So I grabbed my purse, pushed myself to my feet, and got in line.

I had to wait for a few minutes, and my gaze was naturally drawn to the widescreen television at the near end of the sushi bar.

No sooner had I turned my gaze there when the image shifted to an outdoor landscape (maybe a misty view of a lake surrounded by trees?) and these words printed across the screen:

This is a journey.

I stared at the words, stunned.

There was no voice behind them. I can't remember if the sound was turned off or if there was just music. All that hit me were the words that went on and on, each phrase replacing the last.

A journey is not a trip.

A journey is not a vacation.

It is a process of self discovery.

Does the journey create the person?

Or does the person create the journey?

There was more than that, but that's all I managed to scribble in my notebook.

My stomach was thudding, my head was more floaty than before, and I had tears in my eyes.

Right place at the right time?
Oh, yes. . . .

And Someone wanted to be sure that I knew it, right from the start.

Birthday Oracle Request

Every year I do a tarot reading on my birthday -- but it hasn't happened this year, and is not likely to for a few more days. Besides: I've been in so much turmoil, I'm not trusting my inner senses very much, especially when reading on my own behalf.

So here's a birthday request to all the oracular types on my friends list.

Would you scry the coming year for me?

Whether you read tarot, runes, tea leaves, or whatever. . . I'm not asking for anything long and involved (unless you want to.)

Anyone who wants to participate, please leave the insights from your reading as comments on this post. I'll keep them screened, and then share if there are any common themes.

If you'd prefer not to be identified as the source of a reading, just let me know.

I know that this is an incredibly busy season.
Thank you in advance to anyone who wants to participate!

Hijacked Astrololgy

I'm a Saggitarius, but I'm claiming Scorpio's oracle this week from Freewill Astrololgy:

SCORPIO: A drunk dominatrix sidled up to me at a party and said, "Reverend, please absolve me of my sins." I'm not officially a priest, but in the spirit of fun and games I replied, "Why, my dear? Have you seen the error of your ways?" She spread her arms wide as she bowed, hissing like a serpent through a toothy smile. "Not at all, Reverend," she said. "I just want to clear the docket so I can go out and commit a slew of fresh, new sins with crazy abandon." I sprinkled a few drops of her Heineken on her head and channeled William Blake: "You'll never know what is enough unless you know what is more than enough. The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. If the fool would persist in her folly she would become wise." And now, Scorpio, I'm channeling the same blessing for you.

Sometimes, as a Queen of Swords, I look back and regret the times when my foolishness led to excess.

Today, I claim the wisdom that I gained from allowing myself to be foolish and excessive -- and reserve the right to commit errors of foolish excess in the future.

Freewill Astrology - Sagittarius

Rob Breszney seems to be hitting just about everyone this week. I've already seen three or four horoscopes posted in the last day or so. This was mine.

Right now you have what it takes to be a liberator. You can free people who are enslaved to their fears. You could also be a bridge-builder who provides wandering souls with the means to escape from of the middle of nowhere. If you're feeling especially heroic, you might even be able to serve as both a liberator and bridge-builder. To do so would almost certainly require you to be more of a leader than you've ever been before. But if I'm reading the astrological omens correctly, you have more than enough cosmic juju at your disposal to do just that.

Why yes, Mr. B, just yesterday I had a few things to say about fear and the importance of rising above it. And that "bridge builder" thing? Check! Figured that one out several years ago.

"More than enough cosmic juju"?
Given the accuracy of the rest of it, I'll take your word for it!

*grin
