Game Stuff

Looks like our GM du jour, who was supposed to run a Pax Draconis game for my group this coming Saturday, has email problems that prevented his "Sorry, gang but I can't make it that day" email from getting to the rest of us.

Since I've finished my ethics class and have copious free time at work, I'll be putting together a "Swashbuckling Adventures" scenario (originally the 7th Sea game) for Saturday. It will be the fastest I've ever tried to put something together.

It's going to be a one-shot (beginning, middle and end all in one session), set at a fancy party in Castille (Spain), so I'm looking for non-player characters and plot devices appropriate to that setting: purloined letters, thwarted lovers, mistaken identities, and etc. (Think Zorro and the Three Musketeeers for genre conventions.) I want to keep it light, so no heavy politics or murder mysteries. My last game, a confrontation with pirates who had invaded a town under the protection of the PCs' family, got far more dark and upsetting than I had intended.

Lots of plot, lots of fizz -- it should be a fun way to spend the week.

We went to one-shots because we can only meet every 4-6 weeks, and it was tough to remember all the details of what happened from session to session. But we've been missing the satisfaction that comes from longer campaigns, so we're talking about trying longer scenarios again.
