Yeah, exactly.
The holes in the plot are better disguised in the book- maybe just because it's so long.

Plus there's so MUCH plot in the book, with all of the side stories and parallel events and so forth, that it's hard --- unless you've read it over and over --- to track the threads well enough to
find
the holes.
