First Day

I did not stay up last night to see in the new year. Instead I went to bed around the usual time (10pm-ish) and somewhere in the small, dark hours I won through to the end of a period of spiritual testing that's been going on for several weeks. (Details may -- or may not -- be posted later under my "Spirit Friends" filter, where the extreme woo-woo goes.)

After writing up the experiences of the night, I did my complete morning spiritual practice for the first time in several weeks, had a nice chat with my patron -- also for the first time in a while -- and then balanced my checking account and caught up on my bill-paying.

Next I'll get cleaned up, take out a bunch of trash that's been building up, and head to Half Price Books to turn in some stuff I don't want to keep and look for a book that [livejournal.com profile] oakmouse recommended. I'm prepared to go to three different Half Price Books, if necessary. (Oh, puh-leeeze don't throw me in that there briar patch!)

After that, it will be time to fetch Wolfling back from her dad and bring her home and get lots of kid cuddles, which I've been missing!

Last night, I posted that I had no resolutions for this year. I've changed my mind. I have one: to be happy and comfortable with my weight and fitness level by December 14th. Details to follow, as I work them out, but it's going to involve significant weight loss, regular activity, and more preparing healthy meals at home. I'll determine the specific victory conditions later, when I've had more time for reflection.

I like that for a resolution. Happy and comfortable is good.

I like that resolution as well.

And a soft but enthusiastic huzzah for finding the end to that long, hard row you've been hoeing the last many weeks. I know it's been a difficult bit of processing for you.

Here's to a beneficent 2008.

Thank you. I don't think I've ever been through something quite like this before.

I like that resolution. I wish you all the luck and all the strength.
