Fragments

I'm not sure why, but for the last two days I have not been able to access LiveJournal while at work. Am I paranoid to imagine some kind of corporate 'bot that monitors website visits and logs those that clearly are not work-related, but which register significant time spend there?

I'm absolutely beat - and I have a friend coming to help me paint on Saturday morning. And all kinds of stuff to move to make room for switching couches. Nice challenges to have -- but I'm tired. After I'm done with this entry, I'm going to change into work clothes, run the power sander over the edges of the old paint and concrete one more time, wipe away the dust, let dry, and then paint the bare concrete with concrete primer. I had originally been planning to tape the trim tonight, but it's just too much. I'm only doing the primer tonight because it needs eight hours to dry.

Once the chores are done, I'm going to pour myself some caffeine-free Diet Coke mixed with vodka and bury myself in the last 100 pages of a surprisingly good Arthurian fantasy called In the Shadow of Camelot, which is a rather thorough re-working of the stories of Gawain and the Green Knight, and - I suspect - the story of Lady Ragnell. (The back of the book refers to a "powerful transformation spell" put on the heroine.) It would give the story of Lady Ragnell a significant twist if Gawain were to know the Loathly Lady before consenting to marry her.

I had a *wonderful* conversation with my Christian Ethics prof after class last night.

Then there are my musings about "Firefly" and my feelings about Zoe and Inara, prompted by this personality test -- http://www.fireflyfans.net/feature.asp?f=54 -- which pegs me as 64% River.

[livejournal.com profile] amqu, thank you for elaborating on your beliefs about the Holy Supper. I'm sorry I haven't had the time or energy to respond with the kind of acknowledgement your words deserve. But I found your comments fascinating, and I hope to be able to discuss more about our faiths in the future.

I loved Firefly. I was not a happy camper when they cancelled it. Evil Fox Entertainment Network. They better be glad they still have 24, or I'd boycott them for sure. ;)

I love Inara!

Were you aware that there does seem to be a movie version going forward? Working title is "Serenity" and its slated for a 2005 release, according to the ever-helpful imdb.com.

According to this listing (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379786/) everyone is there but Ron Glass (Book).

I would hope that both the actor and the character would be back! There was so much to find out about Book.

Good grief! How embarassing. This post reminded me of the answer I gave you so I went back to re-read it. I notice I gave an incorrect scripture citation.

Where I said, "He still purposes for mankind to live forever in peace on Earth. Rev 3:21-24, it was supposed to be Rev 21:3-4. Sorry.

I know how you feel. As an academic who specializes in religion and legend, getting the citations right is extremely important to me!
