Snitched from the intriguing [livejournal.com profile] lordandrei

Ask me a question about each of the following:

Friends

Sex

Music

ETA: Movies (I took "drugs" off the list, and my musical interests aren't particularly revealing. "Movies" is a much more fruitful topic.)

Friends: Tell me who your best friends on LJ are.
I’m very fortunate to have made some wonderful friends on LJ. I hate to even designate some of them as “best” since there are so many who are wonderful. [livejournal.com profile] queenofhalves, [livejournal.com profile] zenaida_mac and [livejournal.com profile] toesontheground were three of my earliest LJ friends. [livejournal.com profile] _storyteller_, [livejournal.com profile] dancingchaplain and [livejournal.com profile] kateri_thinks are also in the “best friend” category. So are [livejournal.com profile] athenian_abroad, who I’ve known for most of my life, and [livejournal.com profile] bookchick, who’s been my best girlfriend for the past ten years.

Tell me about dancingchaplain, queen of halves, and iswari. How long have you known them? What are they like?
I met [livejournal.com profile] queenofhalves within a month or so of starting LJ, back in October or November of 2003. She is the only one of these three I’ve spent time with offline. She’s a very fine academic, a powerful wise woman (especially considering her relatively young age), and a thoughtful, loving person. She inspires me with the passion, courage and intelligence she brings to all areas of her life. I “met” [livejournal.com profile] iswari a few years ago on LJ. She is very spiritual, and inspires me with the steadfastness of her faith, courage, and love. [livejournal.com profile] dancingchaplain is a chaplain, and I love conversing with her about Christianity – a faith we both love but honor in different ways. She is thoughtful, passionate, strong in her faith, and inspires me with her courage and sense of humor. She’s doing a job I could never do, and I admire her for it. I would highly recommend their journals.

Who among LJ members did you go to divinity school with?
None of them.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted to be your friend?
Be genuine. Be willing to share your thoughts and feelings. I don’t do ‘small talk’ well, and conversing (or corresponding) is how I build relationships. I want to go deep with someone. Have a sense of humor. Be able to listen to the opinions and beliefs of others with respect, and be curious, not threatened, by the differences. Delight in imagination.

Sex: Are you currently in a sexual relationship?
Not right now. And I haven’t been for about three or four years.

Are you completely heterosexual?
In practice, yes. But that could change.
When I was an undergraduate, I had a crush on another girl, and the older I get the more open I become to the possibility of a relationship with another woman, but I’ve never met another woman who had the kind of energy that attracts me on a romantic-sexual level.
