Good Lord, somebody else who knows Pippin! When I was sixteen, half a dozen different local theatres did that show, including my college, and I wound up naming our new dog Pippin. I have a vinyl soundtrack with John Rubinstein in the title role and Irene Ryan as his grandmother.

Is it really that obscure a show?

I probably saw it for the first time when I caught a showing of the William Katt/Ben Vereen version on television (in the early 1980's?). I was smitten by the deliberate theatricality of it. It may have been the first time I'd seen a production which was self-conscious about being a performance, and I found it charming.

I still love most of the music, and was thrilled when my daughter's elementary school music teacher taught her class "Corner of the Sky"!

It seems obscure to me, although I'm very fond of it. I must dig out my vinyl and listen to it!
