I just checked my bank balance online.
The good news: yes, I got a very nice bonus.
Very nice.

The bad news: I had forgotten to log one of those large checks I wrote to pay off an old debt, and I bounced about ten transactions -- all of them rather small, but each of which is now going to incur a $33 overdraft charge.

[insert uncharacteristic and extremely heated line of profanity here]
[make that several lines]

*takes deep breath*

The good news: the bonus means that my regular income is not going to be touched by the overdrafts, and even with the overdraft charges, I will still be able to buy my nook. And my bank will usuall reverse a few of those overdraft charges if I call. I hate making those calls. I hate having to call and say, in essence, "I'm an idiot who can't pay attention, will you please take pity on my stupidity and irresponsibility?"

Damn, damn, damn!! I thought I had gotten past this kind of stupid mistake.

EDIT: The bank is not going to refund any of the fees. [insert more swearing here]

We've had something very similar happen over the past few days--tiny little transactions bouncing and producing fat overdraft fees. I didn't even try to get them refunded this time; I figured it was our screw-up, fair and square. :\ You have my understanding and my sympathies.
