This is hysterical -- I'm pdf'ing my old LJ entries and just came across my account of my first belly dance class, back in the summer of 2004. I report being more confident than I remember being, but used some of the same language.

looks like you're poring over a lot of old entries... i did that last summer, read through a bunch of stuff from the mid-00's, and was struck both by how much is different and yet how i'm still thinking and puzzling over many of the same issues.

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

It was almost demoralizing to realize that I'm still struggling with some of the same issues, but it's also motivated me to look at new ways to tackle them. I'm going to "keep silent" on the details for the time being, but I'm enjoying the challenge -- which seems like a positive shift in itself after all the years of depression.
