Icon Meme!
Because we loves our icons, Precioussss!
We love them so much that we pay for extra icon space.
Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List each one in your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance it has.
I cheated. If the 10th icon didn't have a good story, or wasn't a favorite, I chose one near it.

Aragorn - Reverence, by Burning Ice
The LOTR movies captured my imagination and my heart like no mythos since Star Wars. I had read the books twice, but they hadn't made much of an impression, so the movies presented essentially presented me with brand-new characters and story. The character of Aragorn was especially dear to me in his blending of warrior/king/protector/lover. This icon is one that I frequently use in response to posts about grief, the spirituality of others, or those which especially move me in some other way.

My Daughter, Odd?, by Cornicopia
This is Belle's father from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I use it when posting about something which I (or my daughter) have done which might seem a bit strange, especially when it involves family. The difference between Belle's father and mine is that my father knows I'm odd. What they have in common is their unconditional love for their daughters.

Daimon Hand, by Almost October
This is from the movie version of The Phantom of the Opera, but I usually use it when writing about my daimon (click on the term in my tags list if this is unfamiliar to you). It's an image of a mysterious, passionate lover who is also a teacher, and definitely perilous.

Practical Magic: Our Blood by _nicons
Okay, contrary to popular myth, my sister and I never killed an abusive boyfriend, raised him from the dead and killed him again. Other than that, the story of the sisters in Practical Magic hits very close to home for us. I use this icon for sister solidarity posts and comments on my sister's LJ.

Naked and Articulate, by chureezee
Browncoats will recognize this quote from the Firefly episode "Our Mrs. Reynolds." This is a rarely-used icon. It pops up primarily in filtered sexuality posts or in comments to such posts on friends' journals.

Veronica Smiling, icon by me
This is Catherine MacCormick as Veronica Franco in the movie Dangerous Beauty. Veronica is intelligent, well-educated, a poet, and the most popular courtesan in Venice. And yes, she's a heroine of mine. I use this when I'm in a mood to present myself as beautiful, witty, and sensual. Which, as longtime readers will realize, is frequently. This is one of my earliest icons, and still a favorite.

Dread Pirate
Another one I made, from an image found on the internet, with lettering kindly done by a friend --
tamnonlinear, if I remember correctly.
This is a cool, sexy, female pirate. What more do I need to say?

Cup of a Carpenter, by goodfaythe
Hold a gun to my head and ask me what my spiritual path is and I'll tell you The Grail Path. This image from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade combines my love of movies with my spiritual path. I use it when speaking of that part of my life, or when involved in a religious discussion.

True Love, by confiteminicons
Buttercup and Westley from The Princess Bride. "Death cannot stop true love, it can only slow it down." For ultra-romantic posts, of course.

Grumpy, by x_ishtari_x
Self-explanatory, I should think.
My previous "Grumpy" icon had a dragon with an arm in its mouth, but I always felt guilty when I used it because it was slightly gruesome, even if the dragon was cartoonish-cute. Plus, I've always loved Maleficent as a dragon.

9 of Pentacles, made by me from the Robin Wood Tarot
This lady is a cousin to my default Queen of Swords icon, as they inhabit the same deck. She represents being serenely competent in tending and maintaining one's physical realm, as well as contentment in solitude. For my posts that are about positive work in the Pentacles realm of hearth and home, finance, and etc.

Angel & Mermaid, made by me from a painting called "Impossible Love" by Selina Fenech
This one is brand new, made for romantic posts about
_storyteller_.
Yes, I can hear you giggling about the fact that the female figure is a Water-dweller,
kateri_thinks!
