Is it Really Storytime?

I've said, I've written, I've thought. . . that I am searching for stories, for new stories, for meaningful stories. . .

But maybe it's time now to release not just my old stories but stories themselves, and storytelling as a way of life.

Maybe it's time to stop telling stories to myself and start planning and doing instead: to plan and engage in adventure instead of just dreaming about adventures; to act and become my desired self instead of just writing about a person I am convinced could never exist in this world.

There's more risk, of course -- but I may have finally come to the place in my life where I am ready to believe that it's only in risk that we grow. That I can grow.

I want to be more than I am.
There is nothing stopping me but me.

This is a debate that I have with myself all the time in regards to game/storytelling I know that I can tell a good story but I also know that every moment I spend telling a story I could be spending having real adventure.

Ultimately I come to the conclusion that my life revolves and sees great purpose in creating good memories. Sometimes memories are served through telling a story and sharing imagination, sometimes they are served through getting out and doing things.

One of the reasons I am a storyteller and not a writer is that storytelling requires interaction, it requires having someone there to tell the story to, to create the memory with. Writing... it feels sometimes like it is just me and the paper. Writing has a place in my life, but it is not how I choose to define myself.

Looking forward to creating memories with you.
Risk, in many cases is an illusion created by factors that are uncontrollable to begin with.

You make an excellent distinction between collaborative and solo storytelling. I do feel like doing the collaborative storytelling, in large part because it gives me the opportunity to have other peoples' imaginations stimulate mine, open up new possibilities.

I've felt for a while that my creative pump needed to be primed -- or my imagination sparked (choose your element!). I'm hoping that the upcoming game will be another factor in that.
