Miami!

I'm sitting down for lunch in the Prime Time restaurant's sidewalk cafe, up the street from the exquisite Hotel Victor. And it is a "sidewalk" cafe -- the sidewalk runs right through the middle of it.

It's a different world here -- and it's an indication of how much I've grown over the past few years that I'm out here walking around on my own. I don't know that I would have been "afraid" before -- more a matter of finding it easier to justify staying in my room rather than getting out and about and exploring. I'm more inclined to experience rather than step back -- or at least more inclined to make the effort to choose embracing experience.

The people watching here is great, too.

Every Amenity

The "Big Bar" (that's the official name) in my hotel room has a dozen different kinds of booze, all kinds of snacks, a first aid kit, and. . . . a "mobile intimacy kit" consisting of a mini personal massager, lube, and two condoms. There is also, in the refrigerator, a hot pink eyemask/blindfold in a box titled "No Rest for the Wicked."

It's all expensive, of course. The tiny first aid kit is $12, the small bottle of Belvedere vodka is $40 and the intimacy kit and blindfold are $25 each -- but I must confess I'm tempted to take the kit, just because it would be such a wicked souvenir.
